How to Set Aperture With Macro Extension Tubes: 5 Steps

Macro extension tubes are camera accessories intended to move the lens farther from the image plane and are used mainly in macro photography. The following steps will show you how to set aperture with these tubes to provide you deeper depth of field- which is a good thing because focusing with macro tubes is not a lot of fun if your hands aren't perfectly steady.
STEPS
1
WITH THE LENS ATTACHED (NOT WITH EXTENSION TUBES), SET YOUR APERTURE.
2
PRESS AND HOLD THE DEPTH-OF-FIELD PREVIEW BUTTON.
3
PRESS THE LENS RELEASE BUTTON AND REMOVE THE LENS.
4
KEEP HOLDING THE DEPTH-OF-FIELD PREVIEW BUTTON DOWN WHILE YOU PUT THE EXTENSION TUBE(S) ON THE CAMERA BODY.
5
ATTACH THE LENS ONTO THE END OF THE EXTENSION TUBE(S). WHEN IT CLICKS INTO PLACE, YOU CAN RELEASE THE DEPTH-OF-FIELD PREVIEW BUTTON.
WARNINGS
These steps work with a Canon, no other camera brands have been tested.
These tubes have no electronic connections, so there is no autofocus.
The camera will tell you there's no lens attached. Don't worry this is normal.
